After 11 years at Windsor Court in High Wycombe, we have moved just a few miles down the road to a new site in Bourne End. Crucially, our new home offers the chance to reduce our environmental impact whilst enhancing our culture and providing improved premises and facilities.
With the Windsor Court lease expiring, we took this as an ideal opportunity to re-evaluate the needs of our company and colleagues. Although our old office has served us well, its size and distance from High Wycombe town centre were clear disadvantages.
Our new office is home to a variety of departments, including Human Resources, Office Admin, Finance, Customer Services, Scheduling, IT, Marketing and the Projects Teams. It was important to bring our colleagues closer together and create an environment that supports and encourages collaborative working, with plenty of meeting rooms and breakout spaces as well as a roof terrace and outdoor space.
What’s more, the new office is within easy walking distance of Bourne End High Street, enabling employees to access local shops and amenities without making car journeys, as well as easy access to local transport networks.
Sustainability was a key factor in all of our decision-making throughout the project. The new office has allowed us to downsize from 14,000 ft2 to 8,450 ft2, which will reduce our overall energy usage. In order to minimise the environmental impact of the move, where possible, any surplus office furniture or IT equipment that we haven’t found a home for in Bourne End has been repurposed by our sister company Elga, donated to charity or sold to employees in order to raise money for The Alzheimer’s Society. The new roof terrace has also allowed us to plant insect-friendly flowers, and hopefully, some will move into the new insect house!
