Patients who require haemodialysis and related therapies deserve to have the best standards of ultrapure dialysis water for the preparation of dialysis fluids. Their safety and comfort during treatment are paramount. That’s why we are excited to introduce our new and improved CentRO (Central Reverse Osmosis) unit by DWA to the UK market.

The CentRO combines the best technologies of its predecessors the Modula S-XL, Modula S-TP and NephRO TP to provide a unit that meets the highest hygiene standards and provides excellent economic performance. It is also compact, operationally robust, safe and addresses the Net Zero carbon agenda and sustainability requirements needed in healthcare.

Dialysis patients typically require up to 200 litres of dialysis fluid per treatment, at a minimum of three times per week, depending on patient-specific factors. Therefore, it is critical that not only is the water of the highest microbiological purity but the water supplying the dialysis machines is delivered consistently and uninterrupted during treatment periods.

A significant challenge for healthcare is the need for resilience in service provision. With increasing patient numbers and waiting lists there is a drive to operate a service 24/7. Therefore operational safety is a key design consideration when looking to replace an old water system or install a new one.

Veolia Water Technologies specialises in solutions for the whole water pathway. Renal Dialysis is a highly specialised discipline requiring an understanding and appreciation of the whole system design to guarantee renal dialysis water quality assurance meets BS EN ISO 23500 standards and the Renal Association and Association of Renal Technologist supporting guidelines. If you are planning a new renal facility or looking at life cycle replacement of your existing water treatment plant then look no further than the revolutionisedCentRO

    The CentRO unit offers:

    • Two-stage or single-stage membrane purification
    • The choice of thermal or chemical disinfection of the RO membranes
    • A fully duplex arrangement
    • Reduced energy consumption by up to 60% thanks to intelligent monitoring and consumption control
    • Reduced water wastage due to higher recovery rates and intelligent monitoring
    • A patented ‘dead zone free’ permeate collection tube avoiding the possibility of bacterial colonisation
    • An emergency mode
    • RO redundancy
    • Multi-loop control
    • Easy to upgrade or downgrade

    Hospital

The CentRO is also compact in design, with a maximum footprint of 200 cm by 79 cm and a height of 190 cm, allowing it to easily fit through standard hospital doors and integrate seamlessly into healthcare facilities. Highly scalable, one unit can cater for between 15 and 70 patient beds and it can also be used in conjunction with any existing NephRO systems installed to increase capacity and enhance patient care.

With sustainability high on the healthcare agenda, digital monitoring contributes to identifying system performance and areas of improvement. Veolia Water Technologies offers Hubgrade to locally and remotely monitor the whole water treatment system including the pretreatment, providing real-time information via an intuitive dashboard to support proactive maintenance and management of the total system. The Hubgrade platform stores documentation in a centralised location to support site compliance and asset information to assist with quality assurance investigations. Crucially it will contribute to a reduction in operational costs, unplanned downtime and ensure peace of mind for the healthcare service.
